THE HIGH-ACHIEVER WHO COULDN'T STOP
Hi, I'm Selina - founder of the Natural Rhythm Revolution.
For most of my life, I wore the "high achiever" label like a badge of honor. I chased performance, perfection, and productivity - even in the wellness world. On the outside, I was doing everything right: I completed my first yoga teacher training by 19, I got a Bachelor degree in vitality management, and a certification as a lifestyle coach. But inside, I was exhausted. Disconnected from my body. And still pushing myself past my limits.
It took a health scare at 30 - and a total breakdown of the life I had built - for me to finally pause. To listen. To ask why I kept operating like rest was something I had to earn.
That moment changed everything.
I sold my house and quit my high-pressure job as a health center manager, which I thought was the problem. I completed my third yoga teacher training and disappeared into the woods of Montana to study Budokon - a fusion of yoga, martial arts, and animal crawling movements. When I came back home to the Netherlands, I had told myself that things would change when I could work for myself, that I would have more freedom, but they didn't…
The same patterns appeared, even when I had no one to answer to.
But this time I saw what I was doing. Letting outside expectations decide for me, had been my mode of operation for years. And I realised, that even though I changed my life around, that voice in my head was still influencing my decisions - of having to work hard, take care of everyone else first, be kind and easy going.
I realised that I could do all the right things, move my body, eat healthy, and work hard to be independent…but that if I didn’t create moments of rest and still, to stay connected to myself, my own needs and vision, I would just get swallowed up by outside expectations and all the “should” in my head that were never mine to begin with. The problem wasn’t so much WHAT iI was doing, but HOW I was doing them.
So I went back to the drawing board to do what I knew best: connecting to my body daily, curiosity towards my own thoughts and habits, and reconnecting MY TRUTH.
I rebuilt my relationship to rest and work. Got really clear on what I wanted; which was not to build an empire, but to simply do meaningful work that supports me in having a slower paced life where there is also time to cook a meal without rush, read a book or do nothing at all…
I started creating a way of living that blended strength with softness - productivity with presence. I started making decisions based on what FELT good for me instead of what I thought I should be doing. I stopped rushing through my days and crossing “self-care” moments as another thing on my to do list. And instead move through my days in a slower pace and experiencing self-care moments as a treat to truly connect to myself.
That journey became the foundation for what I now teach through my online programme & retreats:
The Natural Rhythm Revolution - creating your own revolution, by making inner rest a priority, so you can show up with more calm, energy and joy, because you feel home within yourself instead of rushed by the outside world.
I mentor women who want to stop being the “good girl”. Who no longer want to follow that voice in their head that keeps telling them what they should do, never allowing them to stop. And instead start being led by their intuition - their embodied feminine wisdom. Women who want structure, but also softness. Who want to build a life that feels as good as it looks - one that works with their bodies and rhythms, instead of constantly overriding them.
This isn’t about throwing away everything you’ve worked for. It’s about getting home to yourself again, so you can FEEL what has never been yours and reclaiming what is. So you can channel your drive in a way that actually helps you get what YOU WANT, without sacrificing yourself in the process.
Because the exhaustion you feel won't go away by pushing harder. That disconnection from your body and constant state of overwhelm doesn't disappear if you try to be even more productive.
That's what I would tell myself now after spending almost 15 years living in overdrive.
That might sound challenging when you're used to constantly achieving. You might fear that reconnecting with your body means falling behind on life.
But I want you to know you don't have to choose between your career, your family and your own sanity.
In my coaching and retreats, reconnect with your body, I guide you to break old beliefs and generational patterns, and honour your natural rhythm. This approach might sound counterintuitive in a world that glorifies hustle culture, but it means you're actually going back to your innate wisdom, with both your ambition and wellbeing intact. The opposite of burnout, I think.
What I do challenge is the notion that success requires constant sacrifice. That you somehow have to exhaust yourself, ignore your body's signals, and push through physical depletion to achieve your dreams.
It's all been normalized...
...but I don't believe that this way of living leads to true fulfillment or sustainable success. Because if you've been running on empty for years, what kind of life are you actually building?
A life of constant struggle and fighting against your own nature.
I also don't need to be constantly productive, always "on," or perpetually busy to feel worthy. My power isn't in doing more, but in aligning with my natural rhythm.
Deep fulfillment comes from within.
And that definitely applies to you too. If you're BRAVE enough to slow down.
High-achieving women need to honour their cyclical nature.
I truly believe this. Because we've been conditioned to operate like machines in a linear world. We’ve been expected to live as though we’re “mini men”, while we as women have always been built different. It both amazes and enrages me to see how good we've become at ignoring our unique female bodies and the needs that come with it.
Even if you're incredibly ambitious and driven, your body still operates in cycles and rhythms. The expectations to perform consistently regardless of where you are in your cycle, the pressures from society, work, and even ourselves.
It's been deeply ingrained in us for generations. Pushing through, showing up consistently no matter what. It can be a strength, but we often burn out because of it.

Then I spent another 5 years unlearning all of that, rewriting my beliefs, reconnecting with my body, and learning how to pursue my future dreams without abandoning myself in the present.
That journey led me to create the Natural Rhythm Revolution method - a sustainable, embodied approach to well-being designed for women who are tired of burning out in the name of productivity.
I didn’t build this method from one moment of personal clarity. I built it from a foundation of over a decade of education, experience, and experimentation. I’m a certified lifestyle coach with a degree in vitality management and over a decade in the wellness space. But more than that, I’m someone who actually had to learn how to rest, regulate, and realign without uprooting her entire life.
So no, this isn’t another list of self-care tips or temporary fixes. This is a new way of being. A proven pathway I've developed where we gently break the beliefs and patterns that keep you stuck, and create real, sustainable transformation through small but powerful shifts that work with your feminine cycle, not against it.

🪞When I was 9, I said I was going to live in Spain and marry a Spanish Man. At 33 I moved back home after traveling the world and felt like I could stop searching for happiness and be happy in my own country, because I finally felt at home within myself. To then meet a Spanish man on the seat next to me on a holiday to Spain and move to Spain after 1,5 years of a long distance relationship. I now live in a beach town near Alicante, not married yet, but I have no doubt that ring is coming
🪞 I’m a living contradiction; I love to travel, but I’m also a major homebody in my day to day life, movement is part of who I am, but give me a book, movie or serie and you’ll find me under a blanket chilling on the couch all day. I believe in nourishing natural food, but I still can’t enjoy broccoli and you can wake me up for real Italian pizza and French fries anytime.
🪞 I love learning and when I read it’s usually non-fiction. But I’m trying to find more bedtime storybooks, so if you have any fav books let me know. My fav shows and movies are Grey’s Anatomy, Harry Potter and the Notebook and I’m currently binge watching The Good Doctor (with Spanish subtitles of course).
🪞For years I’ve felt ashamed about my sensitivity and softness and right now I’m in the season of truly embracing it as my superpower. Because I’ve realised maybe I’m here to show people that soft is not weak. That sensitive is powerful and that we can all use a bit more softness and slowness in this fast paced world to keep us feeling joy in the present moment instead of rushing to the next.
